Kia’s 2017 Cadenza large sedan is now out in the open, with the covers officially coming off the updated model for overseas markets.
This one, however, won’t be coming to Australia anytime soon, and, given the general decline in large passenger car sales locally, Kia Australia can be forgiven for leaving it off the shopping list.
Instead, it will be mainly US and Korean customers who will see the Cadenza (also known as the K7 in Korea) in showrooms; these buyers were given a taste of the updated model earlier this month.
What we’re missing out on, according to Kia HQ, is “sharper, more defined styling” and “distinctive, European-inspired looks with a sleek, elongated silhouette”.
Kia says the rethink on exterior styling has given the Cadenza a modern appearance without departing from the current Kia corporate look.
The standout feature is the new ‘tiger-nose’ grille (we prefer ‘shark mouth’) matched with slender, diamond-shaped LED headlamps and a new bumper design.
At the rear, the Cadenza gets twin chrome exhaust tips, LED tail lamps and a new rear bumper.
The updated Kia Cadenza goes on sale in 2016, with interior and mechanical details expected to appear closer to launch.
