We're less than a month away now from the WPS Bathurst 12-Hour enduro, and word is already filtering-out of 'who will be driving what' at The Mountain come February 22.
Western Australian team Messages On Hold Racing has announced its driver lineup for the epic race, with 34 year-old track veteran Kerry Wade teaming up with Carrera Cup racer Aaron Caratti and Targa West winner Steve Jones.
The 24 year-old Jones may be the youngest of the group - and the only one not to have driven the Mount Panorama circuit before - but after claiming victory over tarmac racing legend Jim Richards at Targa West, he'll certainly be one to watch.
Caratti, Jones, Wade and their circuit-prepped Mitsubishi Lancer RS Evolution IX (above) won't be the only ones to keep your eye on however, for the rest of the field at the WPS Bathurst 12-Hour will be sprinkled with famous names not only from the world of motorsport, but from the world of entertainment too.
Actor-slash-racer Eric Bana will be lining up on the Mt Panorama grid in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, while TV personality and part-time V8 Supercar driver Grant Denyer will be racing a Lancer Evo VIII. Established motorsport identities Russell Ingall, John Bowe, Tony Longhurst, Peter McLeod and Jason Bargwanna will also compete, as will rally champs Neal Bates and Simon Evans.
It's shaping up to be a great race folks, and for those of you tired of seeing only Aussie V8s hooning up and down The Mountain, then the Bathurst 12 Hour should provide you with all the variety you could want. Honda Integras? Check. XR6 Turbos? It's got em. Lotus Elise? You betcha.
I dunno about you but I'll be sitting back, cracking a tinny and tuning in for this one on February 22.
