Hyundai has been at Germany’s Nurburgring circuit testing this Veloster-based mid-engine hot hatchback…but you’d get long odds on it ever entering production.
In fact it’s a road-going version of the RM16 N concept car which was shown in June at the Busan Motor Show in Korea.
Power comes from a 220kW 2.0-litre T-GDI engine with an electric supercharger.
Pundits reckon the mid-engine hot-hatch is actually being used to test that engine in preparation for its installation into an AWD i30 N hot hatch – ‘N’ is Hyundai’s hot car designation.
This would make sense as Hyundai showed the RN30 concept car at the Paris Motor Show – an N Performance Division vehicle with AWD and a 280kW turbocharged 2.0-litre powerplant.
