Mazda’s refreshed BT-50 has surfaced at last, with a revealing new ‘spy’ photo appearing across enthusiast forums in Thailand, where the high-riding utility is built.
While the Thai market already receives special sports-styled versions of the BT-50, it is likely that the new-look model shown here is what we’ll see in Australia later this year.
The BT-50’s styling has polarised buyers since it first appeared at the Sydney Motor Show five years ago, debuting a car-inspired face that drew on the ‘Nagare’ styling worn by the Mazda passenger range of the time.
But, with 5694 sales so far in 2015, and 13,044 sales at the end of 2014, the audaciously styled pickup has hardly struggled to find fans.
Today’s early leak reveals that, as expected, the updated BT-50 will take its inspiration from the new ‘Kodo’ styling language worn by Mazda’s new passenger range.
