Audi reveals full details for new A7

German super coupe priced from $132K

Audi has confirmed full details of its second-generation A7 super coupe ahead of its local arrival in November.

The German brand announced the four-door coupe will be offered in two model grades, the diesel-powered 50TDI Quattro and the petrol-powered 55TFSI Quattro, with each costing $131,900 (plus on road costs).

Both feature an extensive array of standard equipment including a leather-lined cabin with heated sports front seats, three-zone climate control, Audi's latest connectivity suite that consists of twin digital screens (a 10.1-inch main display and 8.6-inch supporting screen) which incorporates natural speech commands and handwriting recognition as well as digital radio, internet-connected sat nav and smartphone mirroring for Apple and Android devices with wireless charging.

They also come equipped with Audi's Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster and a head-up display, along with a comprehensive suite of active driver aids like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance.

The only differences are the powertrains. The 50TDI is powered by a 3.0-litre turbo diesel V6 that produces 210kW and 600Nm and drives all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission whereas the 55TFSI has a 3.0-litre turbo petrol V6 with 250kW and 500Nm, driving the all-wheel drive transmission via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Both feature a 48-volt mild hybrid set-up that uses a compact lithium-ion battery and belt-driven alternator to deliver fuel savings of up to 0.7L/100km by having a coasting function that allows the engine to shut down at speeds below 22km/h.

An entry-level 45TSI with a 180kW/370Nm 2.0-litre turbo charged four-cylinder (without the 48-volt system) will be added to the range early in 2019 with final prices and specifications for that model due to be confirmed closer to its official showroom arrival.
