2024 Genesis GV80 facelift unveiled, Australian arrival next year

The updated 2024 Genesis GV80 luxury SUV has been unveiled in South Korea, ahead of its Australian arrival mid next year.

The mid-life upgrade for the largest Genesis SUV – until an even-bigger, electric GV90 arrives in the coming years – brings exterior styling changes, an overhauled interior with a 27-inch screen, and improved technology.

Australian showroom arrivals for the updated GV80 are due to commence in the second quarter of next year (April to June), pending any delays.

The GV80's facelift introduces the option of a sportier Coupe body style, with a sleeker design, unique styling inside and out, and a turbocharged V6 engine which, in overseas markets, is more powerful than before, and augmented by an electric supercharger. Click here for more details.

Exterior changes include a reshaped front bumper with sportier air inlets and a smaller grille, new quad headlight internals with Micro Lens Array (MLA) matrix LED technology, a new 20-inch and 22-inch wheel design, and a restyled rear bumper with hidden exhaust tips.

Storr Green matte and gloss paint finishes have been added to the palette.

Inside, the current 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen have been replaced by a single, widescreen 27-inch OLED display that stretches across much of the dashboard.

The climate controls below the screen feature smaller dials and a larger touch panel, and the centre console has been restyled with new gear selector and infotainment controller dials (though touch functionality for the display is believed to remain).

Also new is a restyled two-tone steering wheel, improved interior materials and "crash pads", an easier-to-access wireless phone charger, larger cup holders, and leather, aluminium and real wood on the centre console.

Rear-seat passengers now have access to 14.6-inch touchscreens on the front seat backs. Other new features include an updated digital phone key, improved driver monitoring cameras, a digital rear-view mirror, and a Bang and Olufsen premium sound system.

Powering the GV80 in South Korea is a carry-over 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder engine with 224kW/422Nm – which was recently axed from the Australian line-up – or an unchanged 3.5-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 with 279kW and 530Nm.

The 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder diesel has been deleted in the Hyundai-owned brand's home market. It's unclear if it will remain available in Australia.

A high-output version of the petrol V6 – with an electric supercharger for improved power and response – offered in the Coupe overseas will not be available with the regular GV80 wagon.

Adaptive suspension is available, along with revised engine mounts, an updated Auto Terrain Mode function, and reduced noise through new tyres, materials, and improved soundproofing around the tailgate.

Advanced safety features on offer include autonomous emergency braking with junction assist, adaptive cruise control, lane centring assist, auto highway lane changes, blind-spot and rear cross-traffic crash-avoidance assist systems, surround parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and Remote Smart Park Assist, plus 10 airbags.

The 2024 Genesis GV80 is due in Australian showrooms in the second quarter of next year (April to June), with prices to be confirmed closer to launch.
