Volkswagen has revealed a new version of its Amarok Ultimate, the top model in the company’s pickup range.
For 2014, the Ultimate scores new bi-xenon headlights with an integrated LED light strip that first appeared with the Power concept in May.
In Europe at least, the new headlights will be available as an option with other Amarok models, while the Ultimate also picks up a number of other new features.
Among those are a new split-style chrome finish to the two-bar grille design, along with silver door mirror caps, smoked tail lights, 19-inch ‘Aragonit’ wheels, silver underbody guards, chrome-finish sports bar and side rails, and LED number plate lights.
In the cabin there’s anthracite and titanium black Alcantara seat trim and cut-pile floor mats, and body colours include Candy White, Natural Grey, Reflex Silver, Starlight Blue, Toffee Brown and Deep Black.
Tech features include ParkPilot with Rear Assist camera, RNS 315 navigation system with 5.0 inch display, powered folding and heated door mirrors and an alarm system.
Powertrains for Europe’s Ultimate model include a pair of 103kW and 132kW diesels, mated to manual or auto transmissions with rear- and all-wheel-drive layouts.
Australian plans for an update to the Amarok range, or to the top-spec Ultimate, are still to be confirmed.
Speaking with TMR today, Volkswagen Australia's Kurt McGuiness said that no major updates to the Amarok range are expected before 2015.
