2014 TOYOTA 86 AUSTRALIA

Toyota Australia has rolled out a couple of minor tweaks to its 86 Coupe for the 2014 model year, focused on style and handling.

Headlining the update is the addition of a Torsen limited-slip differential to the automatic-equipped GT, bringing the model in-line with the rest of the range.

Adding $300 to the price of the auto GT, Toyota says the update is a result of feedback from buyers wanting "the same dynamic properties" offered with the other three models in the 86 range.

Toyota has also added a rear spoiler to both GTS models - manual and auto - as standard equipment, increasing the price of each by $500.

The manual-equipped 86 GT, already equipped with the Torsen LSD, remains unchanged at $29,990 plus on-road costs.

Toyota 86 in a Nutshell

The rear-wheel-drive 86 coupe is powered by a 147kW and 205Nm four-cylinder petrol 'Boxer' engine, sending drive to the rear wheels.

Six-speed manual and sequential-shift automatic transmissions are available with both model grades.

Standard kit includes seven airbags, five-mode stability control system, traction control, anti-skid brakes, 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, air-conditioning, CD/MP3/radio audio system, daytime running lights and a multi-information display.

The 86 GTS has 17-inch alloy wheels, a 6.1-inch display screen, satellite navigation, auto-levelling HID headlamps, leather-accented front seats, dual-zone climate-control air-conditioning, aluminium pedals, LED DRLs and red stitching highlights.

The Toyota 86 is covered by the Toyota Service Advantage capped-price servicing plan with up to four scheduled services at $170 each.
