The Rolls-Royce Phantom needs little introduction, or, it would seem, upgrades. The debut of the new Phantom Series II at Geneva reveals a car that Rolls has seen fit to be left mostly alone.

Externally, the Phantom's changes are limited to a new split headlight arrangement, the removal of the circular driving lights, a subtle reworking of the front bumper and, well, that's about it.

The company claims it is the first company to offer their cars with full LED headlights as standard.

While the big limo's V12 engine is untouched, power now reaches the rear wheels via a new eight-speed gearbox and differential, which Crewe claims reduces consumption and CO2 output by 10 percent.

The interior gets a new sat-nav system with 3D maps and the new and larger 8.8-inch screen is connected to an improved camera system to aid manoeuvrability of the vast machine.

Having seen off the competition in the dead Maybach brand, Rolls knew there was little that needed to be done and in reality, the Daimler-owned Maybach was never a threat.

For 2012, the Phantom's minimalist upgrade applies to the saloon, Coupe, and Drophead convertible.
