Renault has recalled two of its commercial vans in Australia, due to problems that may arise from fasteners.

The first involves the Renault Trafic, but just three examples are targeted by the recall.

Renault says there is a risk that the passenger airbag mounting screws could be absent. This may lead to improper inflation of the airbag if required during a collision, increasing the risk of injury to passengers.

A second recalled involved Renault’s Kangoo van, transformed / converted by GRUAU.

Eleven Kangoos are included in the recall, which was triggered by a potential problem with the rear bench seat.

Renault says the backrest mounting bolts for the rear seat may not be to specification, as the bolts may break. This could result in injury to passengers should the seat fail while the vehicle comes to a sudden halt.

The recall process will involve an inspection of the Trafic passenger airbag unit and rectification if required, while the offending bolts in Kangoo models will be replaced. All work will be carried out free of charge to owners.

Renault will attempt to contact affected owners shortly, but any owner wishing to learn more about the latest round of recalls should contact their local dealer.
