UPDATE: The new HiLux has now been revealed. Read here.
Toyota may need to take a long, hard look at its prelaunch protocols after this week, with the all-new 2016 HiLux rearing its head once more today.
The new pickup is due for official unveilings in Thailand and Sydney tomorrow, but with this leak marking perhaps the fifth occasion of its untimely appearance on screen, there will be few surprises.
These latest shots offer the clearest look yet at the new-generation HiLux, revealing again its broad Kluger-like grille, large wraparound headlights and pumped guards.
The high-specification model shown here wears alloy wheels, chrome garnishes and LED daytime lights (which likely won’t be standard with workhorse entry models).
In the cabin, there’s a chrome-trimmed two-tier dash, a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, leather seats, a large tablet-like centre display and a smaller full-colour information display in the instrument cluster.
Full details on the new HiLux won’t come until tomorrow afternoon, although earlier leaks detail a pair of 2.4 and 2.8 litre turbodiesel engines and a 2.7 litre petrol unit.
Five- and six-speed manual transmissions are also listed with the 2016 model, along with a six-speed auto to replace the current model’s five-speed unit.
Watch for the new HiLux to make its long-coming debut on Thursday afternoon, and catch our full coverage at the links below.
