MERCEDES-BENZ S-CLASS COUPE
The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe makes its first production appearance this week as a new marketing photo surfaces online.
Published in the European press, this single shot offers the first clear look at how last year’s dynamic Concept S-Class Coupe will look in its final showroom form.
As expected, little has changed. The concept’s sleek profile has carried over unharmed, showcasing long character lines and wide guards at both ends.
Likewise, the broad grille and new headlights have come through to production with only minor changes, including a slightly taller look to the lights.
The new coupe’s rear-end cannot clearly be seen in this shot, although it appears the concept’s slender tail-lights will come through mostly unchanged.
In concept form, the S-Class Coupe measures 5050mm - compared to 4895mm for BMW's 6 Series Coupe - 1958mm wide and 1409mm tall, and rides on big 21-inch wheels.
The concept is powered by Merc's 334kW 4.6 litre V8 biturbo engine, but no performance or fuel figures have been released.
Joining the newly launched 2014 S-Class limo, the upcoming Coupe will replace the CL-Class name, with a debut expected in the coming weeks or months.
