The newly updated Ford Focus ST hot hatch, with refreshed styling and a retuned driving experience, has touched down in Australia.
Revealed just a few weeks shy of one year ago, the 2015 Focus ST’s local debut is the latest in a year of launches that has included the reborn Falcon XR8 and the new Mondeo, while the new Everest SUV and Mustang hero are still to come.
For 2015, Ford’s hottest available hatch (until the new RS arrives…) has been given a styling makeover, new features and a revised drive package that includes significant tweaks to the suspension and steering setups.
Externally, there are restyled lights at both ends, a subtly revised grille and a more shapely bonnet design - which, some will appreciate, no longer gives the impression that you've forgotten to latch it shut.
On the inside, there's an updated dash design and a new flat-bottomed steering wheel.
The familiar 2.0 litre EcoBoost turbo petrol four-cylinder engine again provides motivation, with power figures holding steady at 184kW and 340Nm (360Nm in ‘Overboost’ state). Auto stop-start is now also featured.
Ford’s Sync 2 infotainment system is also on board, with the eight-inch colour screen offering access to audio, navigation, climate control and mobile phones via voice control.
Priced from $38,990 plus on-road costs, the updated Focus ST is available from tomorrow, May 1.
