Mercedes-Benz will unveil its historic first volume production pickup within the next 24 hours but ahead of that, these teaser images have been released.
While the images aren’t exactly a ‘tah-dah’ moment, even at this stage it looks safe to say the Mercedes styling team has worked hard to distinguish its ute from the ‘donor’ platform – the NP300 Nissan Navara.
Note the slim-line headlights and sporty front lip.
It looks like ‘Benz has gone the ‘butch’ route – replacing the Navara’s curves with straight lines and bold wheel-arches.
Details are scarce but word on the street indicates Mercedes-Benz is expecting big sales for its ute lineup – to be badged as the 'X-Class' if rumours prove to be correct - in North and South America. So expect some hard-working variants as well as the more luxurious models favoured in North America.
On-sale date is yet to be officially confirmed but the second half of next year is most likely.
