Like the GLC 43 SUV that came before it, the GLC 43 Coupe is powered by a 3.0 litre twin turbo V6 engine capable of 270kW and 520Nm, driven through a nine-speed automatic to a rear-biased all-wheel-drive system.
A claimed 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4.9 seconds makes the GLC 43 a genuinely quick beast, while fuel consumption on the combined cycle is a reasonable 8.4 l/100km.
As well as the boosted V6, the GLC 43 Coupe rides on sports-tuned air suspension with Comfort, Sport, and Sport Plus settings, as well as an off-road setting, able to lift the vehicle for up to 300mm of ground clearance.
Exterior touches include a diamond-patterned grille, and full AMG front and rear styling treatments, four-pipe AMG exhaust finishers, and 19-inch gloss black wheels with machined spokes.
The interior is dressed in black Artico (man-made) leather and Dinamica microfibre, with red top-stitching, front sports seats, sports steering wheel, chequered-flag instrument cluster, and red seatbelts.
European customers will have a choice of either a 7.0-inch or 8.4-inch infotainment display, with features like satellite navigation, Comand online services, Digital radio and TV, and Burmester premium audio on the options list.
European sales will kick off in October, with Australian deliveries expected to follow in early 2017. Full local pricing and specifications will be announced closer to launch.
