Jaguar’s new midsized XE sedan may be tackling more than just the regular BMW 3 Series and others in the sales-race, according to a report out of the UK.
British magazine Auto Express is reporting that the Big Cat will build an SVR version of its new XE, featuring a 365kW supercharged 5.0 litre V8.
Rumours of a V8 XE have circulated for some time, but most centred around a luxury flagship model rather than an all-out performance saloon.
The V8 will reportedly be the same unit currently available in Jaguar’s F-TYPE roadster, which boasts a 0-100km/h time of 4.3 seconds and top-speed limited to 250km/h.
These figures compare to the BMW M3’s 317kW from its twin-turbo 3.0 litre inline six, with a 0-100km/h time of 4.1 seconds when matched with the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
