Hyundai has taken another step towards seamless integration between home and car at the Consumer Electronics Show in the US, demonstrating the voice command capabilities of Google Assistant in its vehicles, via Hyundai’s Blue Link Agent.
The system uses the same speaker system as Google Home, a Google Assistant tool that can answer questions in real time, turn on and off smart appliances, and activate streaming music services.
Hyundai’s Blue Link system already allows access to features like remote locking, remote start with climate control, stolen vehicle recovery, and Google Destination Search, either from within the car, or via a connected smartphone.
Now with Google Assistant added to the system, Hyundai owners can give voice commands as quickly and easy as “Okay Google, ask Blue Link to lock my car” or “Okay Google, tell Blue Link to send the address of the Las Vegas Convention Centre to my Sante Fe” as well as asking Google to search for nearby restaurants, or asking about the weather before remotely starting, and pre-conditioning the vehicle.
