The Commodore onslaught continues this week, with details and images of the carmaker's VF-styled 'Car Of The Future' V8 Supercar racers revealed today.

Set to battle not just Ford but also Nissan and Mercedes-Benz cars in the 2013 championship, the new Holden supercars offer the first look at the SS performance models that will be unveiled later this week.

At the front end, the V8 Supercars wear the VF Commodore's restyled headlights and new bonnet, but a slim new sports grille sits in place of the tall chrome-trimmed design worn by the new Calais revealed yesterday.

(Fans will recognise the grille from Chevrolet's NASCAR racer, revealed last year - Ed).

The traditional track-focused bumper and intakes fill out the bottom half of the racer's face, and that theme continues along the profile and rear-end, where a large GT wing and diffuser setup dominates.

Three team cars were unveiled in Melbourne today, wearing the sponsorship liveries of Fujitsu, BOC, and for Holden's own factory team with Toll and Coates Hire logos.

For the Holden Racing Team, the car's livery has reverted to a familiar bold white design, with the Holden lion once again dominating the bonnet.

The Holden's Chevrolet 5.0 litre racing engine will be sourced from the US once again, while Nissan Motorsport and the Mercedes-fielding Erebus Motorsport will power on with their own (V8SC compliant) V8s.

A full 2013 series launch and testing day will kick off next weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park, with the first championship round scheduled for the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide on March 2.
