As the name suggests, the upgrade has been co-developed in conjunction with Ford Performance and consists of a high-flow air filter, upgraded charge pipe kit, an upgraded air-recirculation valve, a remapped ECU, and an FPM badge.
Peak outputs climb to 276kW and 510Nm - an extra 19kW and 40Nm compared to the factory tune, and Mountune claims the 0-100km/h sprint drops to 4.5 seconds, or 0.2 seconds quicker than Ford Australia’s claim for the unfettled RS.
With a retail price in the UK of £899 (around A$1530) and a fitting time of just 90 minutes, the FPM kit is compliant with Ford’s factory warranty when fitted by an approved Mountune dealer.
The sad news, however, is that while Ford Australia has approved the Fiesta ST Mountune and Focus ST Mountune kits for sale locally, the Focus RS kit isn’t on the radar for an Australian berth - at least not initially.
Guess the standard car will just have to suffice then. Don’t be disheartened though, TMR's first drive revealed the Focus RS is anything but disappointing.
