Audi's hot RS 4 Avant performance wagon is now on sale in Australia, nearly one year on from its Geneva debut.
The super quick and super practical midsizer is powered by Audi's venerable 4.2 litre V8 engine under the bonnet, delivering 331kW and 430Nm of torque.
It'll take $149,400 (plus on-roads) to take one home, but in exchange for your hard-earned, Audi promises a 4.7 second run to 100km/h and all the family-hauling ability you need.
The usual suspects lurk beneath the body, including Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive system, paired with the brand's seven-speed dual-clutch S tronic transmission.
With that setup, fuel consumption is listed at 10.7 l/100km - respectable for an engine that does what this one does.
On the styling front, the new RS 4 brings a new look to the familiar RS fascia, swapping the massive intakes and stepped front-lip in favour of a more restrained design.
The large elliptical exhaust tips remain at the rear, but here also there is a more subtle take on the rear diffuser's design.
The usual all-black design is featured in the cabin, with carbon fibre highlights, a flat-bottomed wheel and body-hugging sports seats.
Features include multi-media interface with special RS menu with a lap timer and an oil temperature gauge.
There's also MMI sat-nav (with 20GB media storage), keyless entry, memory settings for the front seats, rear camera (and front park assist), cruise control, climate control, thumping audio system with CD, MP3, Bluetooth compatibility (with audio streaming), adaptive headlights, and a host of other premium features.
Storage capacity is listed at 490 litres with the back seats up, growing to 1430 litres when folded down.
