Audi has handed down a first look at its coming LA Auto Show styling concept, believed to preview a new 'A9' flagship model.

The concept is also expected to preview an evolved styling direction for the luxury brand, penned by new design boss Marc Lichte.

Lichte, who replaces Wolfgang Egger as Audi’s overall design lead, comes to the four-ringed brand from Volkswagen.

There, he worked on the exterior styling of the Scirocco, the new Beetle, and several generations of the Golf hatch.

Both brands share an affinity for sharp lines and tight angles, although Litche’s work with the Scirocco and Beetle reveal that the 45 year-old German is as much ‘at home’ with a Burmester curve.

The concept to be shown in LA next month will likely tie Lichte’s styling in with the latest evolution of Audi’s Egger-led design, showcased most recently with the new TT range.

Today's teaser clip offers a first glimpse of that new look, and while the familiar Audi styling still dominates, a new generation of the brand's design language is about to make its world debut.

The video shows a mostly shrouded concept, although it is clear that we can expect either an S-Class Coupe rivalling two-door, or a four-door coupe design even larger than the A7 Sportback.

We can likely also expect to see elements of this new look appear with the next-generation A8, flowing through to the wider Audi range overtime.

Stay tuned for the new concept's unveiling on November 18/19.
