Following a release from Volkswagen Australia regarding its proposed recall action, Audi Australia has also announced its recall plans for vehicles affected by the diesel emissions scandal.
Audi will begin contacting owners of affected vehicles from today to inform them of the recall, but at this stage no technical solution is yet available.
Once Audi’s parent company, Volkswagen AG, has provided a solution further information will be distributed to owners. Until then owners are required to take no further action.
“We are committed to supporting our customers and ensuring all affected vehicles are rectified as soon as possible. In the meantime affected vehicles remain safe to drive.” Audi Australia managing director, Andrew Doyle said in a statement.
“Understandably, our customers are concerned. and we apologise for this. Our customers remain our highest priority and our goal is to act as quickly as we are able, once the solution is made available, to rectify vehicles and restore trust."
Audi is able to confirm that a total of 16,085 vehicles are affected in Australia. The eventual repair campaign will be carried out free of charge.
