Audi has announced two separate recalls for its 2009 A3 and 2010-2016 Q5.

In the case of the A3, the recall concerns the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) unit which may develop a fault in the earth connection due to excessive thermo-mechanical stress.

The ABS/ESC system may not operate as intended in critical handling situations such as oversteer, understeer, or hard braking. The recall affects 2009 model year vehicles built between May 2008 and May 2009.

Audi has also issued a recall for the Q5 (top of page), where vehicles fitted with a panoramic sunroof may not drain properly, leading to water ingress into the headlining.

Over a prolonged period moisture in the headlining could dampen the foam next to the curtain airbag gas generator, causing the airbag to burst.

Only vehicles fitted with a panoramic sunroof are involved in the recall, but production dates span from May 2010 until August 2016.

Audi will attempt to contact owners of the vehicles concerned to arrange an inspection and repair of the components but any owner wish to know more can contact their local dealer, or Audi Australia on 1800 50 2834.
