Audi’s beastly A3 Clubsport Quattro concept has made its video debut this week, offering fans a first taste of its meaty soundtrack.
In the glossy concept video, we see a regular new A3 Sedan roll into a workshop, before fast-forwarding through a host of enhancements that transform it into the monster first revealed earlier this month.
Developed for this week’s Worthersee GTI event in Austria, the A3 Clubsport gets a massive styling and aero overhaul, gaining fatter guards, bigger wheels on a wider track, a huge active air brake at the rear, and a new look at both ends.
Providing power is a 368kW/600Nm version of the company’s popular 2.5 litre five-cylinder engine, dwarfing the numbers of the 265kW/465Nm TT RS Plus already offered as a limited-edition production special.
Power is sent to Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system through a seven-speed S tronic transmission.
The quattro system also benefits from a stronger multi-plate centre differential a unique final-drive ratio to the auto.
There’s also big 370mm carbon-ceramic brake discs at the front, and Audi has even added an air brake for extra stopping power.
“The Audi A3 clubsport quattro concept shows our car and tuning fans at Wörthersee just how much sporty potential there is in the A3 family and in our 2.5 TFSI," Audi board member Dr Ulrich Hackenberg said.
"We have pushed the limits in every respect with this show car: power, dynamics, sound, design.”
The big question is, will we see this concept hit showrooms someday as the next RS 3?
Reports suggest ‘yes’, but time will tell…
