Aston Martin will hit triple digits in 2013, celebrating 100 years since its founding as Bamford & Martin in 1913.

The carmaker became Aston Martin not long after, switching out Bamford's name to trumpet his success in Buckinghamshire's Aston Clinton Hillclimb.

While the marque's first car was the 1915 Coal Scuttle, the 1921 A3 prototype is the oldest Aston still in existence, and the third ever built. It's this car that will play a major role in next year's celebrations.

The first event will take place on January, the official anniversary of the company's incorporation. To mark the occasion, the A3 will join the new 2013 Vanquish supercar in a visit to the site of Aston Martin's first headquarters in London.

The company plans to re-enact the occasion of its founding.

A calendar of events will follow in July, including celebrations at the marque's current Gaydon headquarters, along with a concours event that will host 100 classic Astons.

Drive events will be held across the country - including a James Bond-themed route through England and Wales, and another drive event will take place in the US, ending at the 2013 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

Aston will have more to celebrate in 2013 than just its birthday, with new shareholder Investindustrial set to inject around $160 million in to the development of brand-new models.

Long live Aston Martin.
