BMW Australia has refreshed its 2 Series two-door line-up by adding more standard kit and dropping the price of entry to well under the $50k mark.

The base model 220i Coupe has been marked down by $2100 to rest at $48,900 before on-road costs. The 228i, 220d and M235i are all at least $2000 cheaper than before.

It's a slightly different story for the 2 Series Convertible range, which undergoes price rises of $1000 for the base 220i and $1090 for the M235i Convertible. The 228i Convertible remains static at $68,900

All models across the 2 Series Coupe and Convertible range now get real-time traffic updates for the sat-nav system, along with BMW's ConnectedDrive Services and Remote Services packages.

ConnectedDrive Services allows owners to operate a number of smartphone apps through the car's iDrive infotainment system, as well as conduct Google searches, remotely upload map destinations to the car's navigation system, monitor Twitter and Facebook accounts and listen to internet music streaming services like Pandora.

ConnectedDrive Remote services is slightly different, and takes the interface out of the car and puts in in your smartphone via a dedicated BMW Remote App.

It enables the driver to activate the cabin ventilation system before they reach the car, lock and unlock the vehicle, flash the lights, sound the horn and even locate it on a map should you lose track of it in a shopping centre car park.

Other new features include a rear view camera for all Coupe models and a DAB+ digital radio tuner for all models bar the 220i and 220d.

Mechanically, there are no changes to engines, gearboxes or suspension. Trim and colour options also remain unchanged.

The specification upgrade applies to all cars from July build onwards.
