A dramatic increase in track width over the donor Lotus necessitates those huge fender blisters, although the Alpine's wheelbase looks to be quite close to that of the Exige.
With the Exige being one of the smallest cars on the road, that should give a good indication of the Alpine's scale.
To be sold as both a Caterham and a Renault, the Alpine is expected to carry different frontal styling in Caterham form, as well as a lower pricetag compared to the more upmarket Renault.
Mechanical components will be shared though, with both versions of the Alpine potentially using a 224kW version of the Clio RS' 1.6 litre turbocharged inline four.
A pre-production concept is expected to put in an appearance at next year's Geneva Motor Show, where more precise details may also be revealed.
