Ferrari has released a short teaser clip today of its updated 458 supercar, due to be unveiled in the coming hours.
Details have not been revealed, although it is understood that Ferrari has cooked up a significant upgrade to the supercar’s styling and powertrain.
Developed as part of Ferrari’s new approach to extensive mid-life makeovers, the ‘new’ model is expected to be known as the 458 M, for ‘modificato’.
However, as with the recently overhauled California, it is possible that Ferrari will tack a ‘T’ on the end of the 458’s name, in place of the M.
Power in the upgraded 458 M, or T, is expected to be provided by a 500kW turbocharged V8, marking a significant leap beyond the current 458’s 419kW - and even the extra-hot 444kW 458 Speciale.
The upgrade should see the new special improve on the Speciale’s 3.0-second run to 100km/h, which would also make it quicker than McLaren’s 478kW 3.8 litre turbo 650S supercar.
As for its styling update, expect the supercoupe to get a subtle styling update along the lines of the California T: new headlights, new bumpers and possibly some light changes to the sheetmetal.
Watch for full details to come in the hours ahead.
