Over and above the 2014 S 63 AMG - which was unveiled earlier this year - the S 65’s party-piece is its 6.0 litre V12 Bi-turbo (twin-turbo) engine, producing 463kW of power and a mammoth 1000Nm of torque.
The dash from zero to 100km/h for the S 65 AMG is dealt with in 4.3 seconds, on its way to an electronically-controlled top speed of 250km/h.
Power is fed to the rear wheels via the 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic transmission.
With fuel consumption listed at a respectable 11.9 l/100km, Mercedes-Benz claims the S 65 AMG is “the most fuel-efficient V12 high-performance saloon in terms of power and torque”.
The S 65 AMG rides on 20-inch wheels, which are necessary to house the optional high-performance ceramic composite brake kit.
The system is 20 percent lighter than the standard brakes and feature 420mm discs along with specially painted brake callipers.
The AMG sports suspension features 'Magic Body Control' with 'Road Surface Scan', which Mercedes is heralding as “the world's first suspension with eyes”.
Other features include a lithium-ion battery (saving 20kg), a Burmester high-end 3D surround sound system, electrically adjustable rear seats and an optional 360 degree camera.
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S 65 AMG will go on sale to overseas markets in March next year, with pricing for Germany estimated at 232,050 euros (AU$330,598).
