Kia's impending update for the Optima medium sedan has been spied during testing at Germany's Nurburgring Nordschliefe.
Sporting a camouflage wrap, it's nevertheless clear that there are some major similarities between this test car and the updated US-market Optima that debuted in March this year.
The front bumper carries most of the visual revisions, with a completely reshaped lower air dam that features a single horizontal bar. At a glance, the test car's front bumper appears identical to that of the US-spec 2014 Optima.
The current Optima's LED daytime running lamps have also migrated from the bumper to the headlamps, which will receive new lenses to update the Optima's frontal appearance.
Subtle revisions to the bootlid and rear bumper will be matched by new tail lamp jewellery, and there will also be new alloy wheel designs.
In Europe, engine and transmissions are expected to carry over. However, it's as yet unclear what mechanical changes will be made to Australia-bound Optimas.
Expect the updated Optima to go on sale in Australia sometime in early 2014.
