Off-road enthusiasts take note: it's Hummer time. This is not just any old H1 Hummer either, this particular metallic-blue example was once owned by one Mr Mark Philippoussis. This makes the Shannons' auction your best chance to shun the environment and take a slice of 'The Poo' all in one go.
The 6.5-litres of turbocharged V8 diesel power could be yours for $40-$50,000 if predictions are accurate. For the princely sum, the lucky owner will not only acquire an interesting conversation starter but the H1 is actually quite capable off-road.
Based on the military-spec vehicle, the road-going H1 shares quite a few components with its war-time brethren including inboard brakes, portal axles, underlying frame and main body panels (most of the car in other words). Perhaps the most interesting of the Hummer's listed features is the Central Tyre Inflation System which enables the driver to vary tyre air pressure on the fly - nifty.
The two-owner, 29,900kms history implies that this H1 has spent more time performing the urban commute than it has rock-crawling so while some of the exterior hardware and cabin trim is missing (the H1 is being sold as a project) the vehicle should still be in solid condition.
November 24th is the date of the auction so, if you're interested, you'd best contact Shannons for more information. If you wind up as the lucky owner of the 'Poo Hummer', drop us a line, a TMR road test might be in order.
