WILLIAMS F1'S NICO Rosberg has confirmed the upcoming Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be his last race for the Grove-based outfit after spending four seasons with the team.
Rosberg is expected to move to the championship winning Brawn GP next season as a replacement for Rubens Barrichello, who is expected to move in the opposite direction.
?It is my last race for Williams," he said. ?And that is it really. It is a bit strange because for four or five years it is the only team I have worked with, so it has been a long time.
?I get on with everybody really well, obviously, and a lot of respect has built up - with the mechanics and everyone. So it will be quite strange to leave.
?I can also use this opportunity to thank the team, because all in all I think they have done, for my career, a lot of good. Especially Sir Frank [Williams], Adam Parr, Sam Michael and Patrick [Head], they supported my career all these years. So it is a big thank you to them.?
Meanwhile, Brawn GP?s Jenson Button says he is looking forward to racing for the first time this season without the concern of fighting for the World Championship at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
After clinching the driver?s crown with a superb drive to fifth at the Brazilian Grand Prix, Button embarked on a whirlwind public relations tour as he settled into his role as the World Champion.
With the euphoria surrounding his victory now passing, Button said he is looking to enjoy himself as the F1 circus races at Yas Marina Circuit for the first time.
He said: ?It has been a while since I have jumped into an F1 car and not felt stressed, or a little bit under pressure. It is the first time I can relax and go and do my thing.
?This will be my first time when I drive out in a Formula 1 car and I will have world champion written on my helmet....It is going to be a very special feeling.
?I am just going to enjoy this weekend. And after this weekend, I can relax and get away from F1 for a few weeks - which I think is what you need to do, [and] which will help you come back stronger when you do finally step back into the frame.?
