The potent all-new BMW G 450 X Sport Enduro is due to arrive in Oz showrooms on 20 September 2008. The best news, besides the arrival of this much-anticipated machine, is the $12,450 price (plus dealer delivery and on road costs).
The X Sport Enduro?s 449.5cc engine is all new, though it picks up some cylinder head technology developed by BMW for the K Series four-cylinder engine. The new donk punches out peak power of a creditable 38 kW (52 hp) at 9000 rpm and 44 Nm of torque at 7800 rpm.
Road legal, the BMW G 450 X offers fuel injection for fuss-free starting and instant power, an innovative drive train and suspension set-up (with ?hlins shock absorber), light weight at just 111 kg dry, and a low centre of gravity for agile performance.
Developed by BMW Motorrad Motorsport in the pressure-cooker of world competition (entering an early prototype in 2007 in the World Enduro Championships where it scored points on debut), the G 450 X has proven its credentials in the World and European Enduro Championship with top places and podium finishes for development riders.
BMW Motorrad Australia and its dealers are expecting a high level of demand for early stocks.
"Early feedback from a few lucky pro-riders to whom we have shown the bike has been very positive. The common theme is amazement at how light the bike feels, how agile it is and how powerful, usable and responsive the motor is," Miles Davis, Marketing Manager, BMW Motorrad Australia and New Zealand, said.
Hmmm? looks like things are about to get hotter in the enduro kitchen come September 20th. Interested? For more info, give BMW Motorrad a yell: [email protected]
