WITH ITS FUTURE design direction evident in the recently revealed Citroen C3 and the more upmarket DS3, these new spy photos reveal that Citroen is now hard at work on replacing the current generation C4.
Although the test car shown here is draped head to toe in heavy camouflage, the new C4 is expected to follow the styling themes of its smaller C3 and DS3 siblings.
As with the C3, an upmarket version dubbed DS4 is likely to join the new hatch (along with a possible Revolte-based DS2), and, being Citroen, laden with fashion-oriented features and accessories inside and out.
Previous reports have suggested that the DS4 will be styled similar to the C-Sportlounge concept, but a design more in line with the regular C4 is more likely.
Speaking at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, Citroen's product chief said the new C4 will be lighter and more efficient than the outgoing model, with a three-cylinder engine to feature among the drivetrains to be offered.
A hybrid version, using PSA Peugeot Citroen's Hybrid4 system, is also expected to join the C4 line-up.
The all-new C4 is expected to make its motor show debut toward the end of this year, with sales to begin early in 2011.
