The market nonetheless pulled together 118,309 sales last month; down just 0.4 percent on June last year and providing a welcome boost after a slow April and May.
Overall sales reached 559,951 (down 2.4 percent on last year) to the end of June, suggesting that the market is on track for another year-end result beyond the one-million mark.
Carmakers bargained hard last month, with Holden, Mitsubishi, Honda and others offering enticing end-of-financial-year (EOFY) deals to boost sales.
