Lamborghini’s first electric car teased, due to be revealed this week

Lamborghini has teased an upcoming concept car, reported to be an electric sedan which will launch the Italian brand’s transition to battery power.

Italian car-maker Lamborghini has shared a shadowy teaser image of what is expected to be its first electric car, ahead of covers coming off the concept vehicle at this week’s Monterey Car Week in California.

In a post uploaded to social media platform Instagram, Lamborghini shared an image of an unknown vehicle’s silhouette – believed to be a high-riding super coupe or sedan.

While it is not confirmed what will power the vehicle, there is widespread speculation from overseas reports that it will be a concept previewing Lamborghini’s first-ever electric car, due to go on sale globally in 2028.

Lamborghini’s post includes a reveal date of August 18 – coinciding with prior reports of an electric concept car being unveiled at a car show during Monterey Car Week in California, which runs from August 11 to 20.

As reported last week by UK publication Autocar, the vehicle due to be revealed in California is expected to be a concept car which will preview Lamborghini’s first electric vehicle.

It is expected to be a four-seat vehicle with more ride height than a typical sedan or coupe, though it's not clear if it will have two or four doors.

While the publication claims the all-new electric car will be followed by a battery-powered successor to the brand’s best-selling Urus SUV in 2029, there is no clear timeline on when Lamborghini’s supercars will ditch petrol power.
