Peugeot 508 GT
Few car companies can claim to know their way around a family-sized sedan as well as Peugeot.
Go back to the 1950s and the brand was winning acclaim with its 203. And if you owned any of the 403, 404, 504, 505 and 406 that followed, you could make a strong case that you were driving the duck's guts of its day.
But then came the 407. Big of nose, cramped in the back and bereft of the unrivalled comfort and dynamic finesse of its predecessors, it struggled to match the competition, let alone set the pace.
Peugeot, though, is back for another shot with the new 508. It's immediately more enticing to look at and the French brand reckons it has the goods to hit family-car rivals where it hurts.
