2007 Mercedes-Benz C180K Classic review: Quick drive
It is tempting to dismiss the pint-sized Benz, the most expensive car here, with the least power and a somewhat uncouth supercharged engine
It is tempting to dismiss the pint-sized Benz, the most expensive car here, with the least power and a somewhat uncouth supercharged engine. But recline behind the steering wheel, go for a relaxing drive, and discover that the C180K is a very pleasant place to be. It is quiet, rides well and is exceedingly well executed inside.
Some of the sheen comes off the C-class if it is mistaken for a sports sedan. Sure, it is rear-wheel drive like the BMW, but it does not posses the 320i's surety of grip, or slickly responsive drivetrain. Engine noise starts intruding, shifts from the optional five-speed auto can become uncouth. It doesn't help performance that the C180K is heavy, weighing 1470 kg.
Some of that weight can be attributed to the longest standard equipment list here, which in Classic trim includes eight airbags, ABS and stability control, dual climate control, 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, remote central locking, park distance control, partially powered front seats and wood trim.
