Volkswagen Atlas: Five-seat SUV coming to New York
Smaller version of biggest VW SUV coming soon
Volkswagen will add a sportier five-seat variant to the Atlas line-up, designed and built for American tastes.
Set to be built in Chattanooga, Tennessee alongside the seven-seat Atlas and (US-specific) Passat, the new model will be the third Volkswagen assembled in the USA.
The five-seat Atlas will be based on Volkswagen's MQB platform, and represents a US$340 million investment for the company.

"The Atlas has built strong momentum for Volkswagen in the SUV segment, and we are excited to grow our SUV portfolio with this new, Chattanooga-assembled five-passenger SUV," Hinrich Woebcken, president and CEO, Volkswagen Group USA, said.
"We are not only committed to this market, we are committed to our US manufacturing home in Chattanooga, Tennessee"
A concept previewing the five-seat Atlas will be unveiled at the New York motor show, which kicks off next week.
