Surging demand for SUVs and light commercial vehicles continues to write new headlines for Australian new vehicle sales which grew by 4.6 per-cent last month, according to VFACTS.
With total sales last month of 94,909 vehicles, in Olympic Games terminology we’re on ‘new record pace’ with a cumulative total of 784,380 representing year-on-year growth of 3.0 per-cent and causing most industry observers to predict a new all-time yearly record to beat the current mark set in 2013.
There seems no quenching our thirst for SUVs and light commercial vehicles (up by 10 percent compared to August 2015). Year-to date, SUVs and light commercial vehicles combined account for 56 percent of the total new vehicle market.
Pleasingly for observers of economic confidence, corporate vehicle sales grew in August (up by 21.5 percent over August last year).
