Toyota RAV4 EV will debut at Los Angles show
Toyota and Tesla announced a few months ago that they would be joining heads to develop an all-electric Toyota RAV4-based vehicle. Toyota has now announced the vehicle will debut at the Los Angles Auto Show, starting November 18.
Earlier this year, Toyota bought a $50 million stake in Tesla Motors and then said in July that it is developing a RAV4-based electric vehicle in conjunction with Tesla Motors.
Although no official production numbers have been released, reports say it could be built in the thousands after a comment by Tesla Motors CEO, Elon Musk, was made, stating, "This is a test fleet. The initial phase is in the couple thousand-unit range."
The Toyota RAV4 EV is expected to go on sale in 2012. We'll bring you more information and details of the car when it is officially unveiled at the LA show in a week's time.
