Toyota has revealed its upcoming FT-86 Open convertible concept, offering a first look at what is expected to become a future production model.
Bound for next week's Geneva Motor Show, the official reveal today of the new topless Toyota follows the appearance of a single spy photo in the South African press earlier this month.
Toyota has described the Open as a "preview of a possible future variant," suggesting the current 86 Coupe will soon welcome a convertible sibling.
The carmaker has not been shy about its intentions for the 86, confirming at the Coupe's unveiling that the platform had been developed to accommodate hard- and soft-top models.
The convertible features an electrically operated soft-top roof, keeping weight down and - in Toyota's words - "allowing a feeling of oneness with nature".
As a concept, the FT-86 Open adds a number of unique elements, including a more luxuriously appointed interior with a leather-wrapped dash and an 86 badge-styled iPhone mount.
