‘The Grand Tour: Eurocrash’ trailer released one week before special airs

UPDATE, 7 June 2023: The first official trailer for the latest installment of The Grand Tour has been released, previewing what we can expect from Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May's latest adventure.

Uploaded to video-sharing platform YouTube, the two-minute and 20 second-long trailer provides the first in-depth look at The Grand Tour: Eurocrash, which is due to be released on Friday June 16 on Amazon Prime.

In addition to showing off the trio's cars, the trailer teases the challenges which will be featured in the Eastern European road trip special, which includes the presenters being attacked by archers, Richard Hammond driving an open-wheel race car and all three vehicles attempting to drive onto a moving airplane.

The trailer is also set to The Final Countdown by Europe – referencing the location of the road trip, though some have speculated it could be a hint that this will be one of the last Grand Tour specials, after Amazon Prime reportedly chose not to renew Jeremy Clarkson's contract following a controversial newspaper column about Meghan Markle.

17 May 2023: US streaming giant Amazon Prime has shared the first glimpse of The Grand Tour’s latest special – bringing Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May together two decades after they first began working as a team on Top Gear.

In a post uploaded to social media platform Instagram by The Grand Tour, the three presenters are seen in a mountain region of Europe with three unique cars.

According to The Grand Tour, the latest special will be called ‘Eurocrash’ – due to be released on Friday June 16 on Amazon Prime.

James May is standing in front of a Crosley convertible – a small, two-cylinder car which was made in the US from the 1930s until the 1950s.

It appears Jeremy Clarkson will be driving a Mitsuoka Le-Seyde – a limited-run, 1930s-style Japanese car, which was based on the Nissan 180SX sports coupe from the early 1990s.

Finally, Richard Hammond is leaning on a Chevrolet SSR, the niche ute which was produced and sold for just three years in the US.

Early versions of the Chevrolet SSR were powered by a 5.8-litre V8 engine, though later examples were upgraded to the 6.0-litre ‘LS2’ which was also used in the Corvette and HSV performance range.

The latest one-off instalment of The Grand Tour is the sixth ‘special’ since the show concluded its traditional season-to-season run – and its usual format, with a studio audience, news segment and special guests – in April 2019.
