Tesla to open flagship showroom in Brisbane
Electric carmaker Tesla is looking to open a new 'Flagship Showroom' in Brisbane, joining the current bases in Sydney and Melbourne.
The company has submitted an application to build the new dealership in Homemaker Fortitude Valley.
According to the document, Tesla has identified Queensland's capital as the next target for the company's market growth. Fortitude Valley has been highlighted as an ideal location, as there is currently limited presence from the Californian brand in the South-East Queensland region.
Tesla's third full-service dealership will be a two-level facility, including a showroom and sales office, delivery zone, servicing zone, customer lounge, four 24-hour public-use Supercharger stations and a dedicated car wash bay.
Unlike most dealerships, which operate under franchises, all Tesla showrooms are company-owned and use a direct manufacturer-to-customer model.
This follows the company's announcement of three new Supercharger sites last November, which will better connect Sydney and Brisbane along with Melbourne and Adelaide.
Now that the link between the New South Wales and Queensland capitals is nearly complete, it makes sense for Tesla to set up shop in the sunshine state.
