Spy photos suggest SsangYong Actyon could return as coupe-styled SUV

Remember the SsangYong Actyon? The SUV was arguably ahead of its time with its coupe-like body – however new spy photos could be a sign of its return.

Black and white images of a mystery coupe-styled SUV have kick-started rumours of the return of the SsangYong Actyon.

The images, posted to website Autospy, are supposedly of a future SUV from KG Mobility – the new name of SsangYong in its native South Korea – with a coupe-like rear end.

While the name of the model is unknown, there is unverified speculation it could revive the Actyon name from an unconventionally-styled SUV sold by SsangYong in the 2000s.

An image of the interior appears to confirm the prototype as a SsangYong vehicle, thanks to the gear selector, steering wheel, and seats, which appear to be updated versions of the items found in the current Rexton SUV.

However, a triple-wide monitor display – stretching across the entirety of the dashboard – is unlike anything seen before from SsangYong.

The SsangYong Actyon SUV went out of production in 2011, but the Actyon Sport – the dual-cab ute based on the SUV – was sold in Australia up until 2015.
