American performance tuner Saleen has unveiled its first-ever electric vehicle at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, based on the Tesla Model S.
Called the FOURSIXTEEN (all block letters, we’ll use ‘4-16’ from here…), the new Saleen features a striking interpretation of the original Model S styling, with a deep-red paint finish to top it off.
As teased in April, Saleen has ‘enclosed’ the wide Tesla grille, emphasising the three air-intakes across the front of the EV.
Headlights and sheetmetal are unchanged from the Model S, while the rear gets revised tail-lamps and a more prominent rear wing.
Performance modifications include revised cooling for the electric motor, a locking differential to maximise traction, optional fully-adjustable suspension and a new 11.39:1 final drive ratio for quicker acceleration.
