Road Test Review: Mini Coupe
The British car maker offers its first two-seater, but it fails to justify its premium price tag.
Remember when a Mini was a Mini? The blocky-looking small car that popularised front-wheel-drive and showed performance didn't need to be big and brutal. Not like the Minis of the 21st century - at least not all of them.
While the Mini styling cues remain, the brand is fast expanding its repertoire, in some cases calling on its heritage and in others starting with a clean sheet to broaden the brand's appeal.
The Mini Coupe falls into that latter category, shrinking the square Mini shape into a lower-slung, two-door two-seater. There's also a drop-top - or Roadster - that brings the number of modern Mini body styles to six. For now.
