Porsche adds two new colours to 718 range
Baby Porsche gets more colourful (and more expensive) for MY22 orders
Looking to order a Porsche 718 Boxster or Cayman and not happy with the selection of four standard colours, four optional 'special' colours ($4430), eight metallic colours ($1690 on a Boxster/Cayman or no-cost on 'S' variants and up) or even the near-infinite 'paint-to-sample' palette ($16,640)?
Well, you're in luck!
For the MY22 specification, Porsche is adding Shark Blue (special) and Frozenberry (metallic) to the Boxster and Cayman selection swatch.
If Shark Blue sounds familiar, it should as it has been the hero colour of the recently launched 992 911 GT3.
The slightly less-appealing (to this writer anyway) Frozenberry is currently part of the Taycan's colour selection group, but can also be specified on your 911. It's somewhere between a light metallic pink and the colour of a rose-gold iPhone, which I'm sure is part of the 'accessory matching' appeal for buyers.
Both colours are now available on the Porsche Australia vehicle configurator.
Paints aren't the only things to change either, with prices up across the board for the compact sports car range. A standard Boxster with PDK transmission has increased $2390, from $118,343 to $120,733, where a range-topping Cayman GT4 PDK rises $3090 (from $211,690 to $214,780)
MODEL | MY21 Price | MY22 Price | Change |
Boxster (PDK) | $118,343 | $120,733 | $2390 |
Boxster S (PDK) | $143,390 | $146,980 | $3590 |
Boxster GTS (PDK) | $180,790 | $183,390 | $2600 |
Boxster Spyder (PDK) | $201,890 | $205,280 | $3390 |
Cayman (PDK) | $115,543 | $117,933 | $2390 |
Cayman S (PDK) | $140,590 | $144,180 | $3590 |
Cayman GTS (PDK) | $177,990 | $180,590 | $2600 |
Cayman GT4 (PDK) | $211,690 | $214,780 | $3090 |
However, some option prices have decreased in the process, with adaptive cruise control on a Boxster S, for example, dropping $250 (from $2570 to $2320). This means, depending on your personal specification, there may be no net price change between an identical MY21 and MY22 car.
Remember too, if bold colours work anywhere, its on a Porsche.
