New kit for Porsche 718 Cayman, Boxster

In an effort to make its entry-level sports cars more attractive, Porsche has added kit to its cheapest coupe and convertible.

Porsche customers no longer have to pay $1690 to get hold of a reversing camera, which is now standard across the range.

Base machines get 19-inch wheels as standard, while 718 Cayman S and 718 Boxster S models receive 20-inch wheels previously available as a $2710 option. Painting them black (as pictured) still costs $2890.

A must-have switchable sports exhaust is now included across the range, saving customers $4330.

The best news is that the extra gear comes at no additional cost, with the Cayman and Cayman S priced from $114,900 and $145,100 plus on-road costs, while the convertible Boxster costs $117,700 in standard form, and $147,900 as a more powerful Boxster S.

Pricing for the Cayman and Boxster GTS remains unchanged at $172,700 and $175,500 respectively, which is less impressive as the duo only gain a reversing camera as part of the running changes.

Other models such as the 911 remain unchanged so far, though Porsche will soon stop building the outgoing 991.2-generation model in favour of a new 992-generation machine tipped to make its international debut at the LA motor show in November.

Likely to arrive locally in the first half of 2019, the new 911 range is expected to start of with a handful of models - such as Carrera and Carrera S in coupe and cabriolet form - before expanding to include a wide range of vehicles including the 911 Turbo, GTS, GT3 and Targa models.
