Mustang-derived V8 Batmobile listed for sale
The road-registrable replica puts out 283kW from its 5.7-litre Chevrolet small block V8.
The legendary Batmobile is set to go under the hammer in Britain, with price expectations of £20,000 to £30,000 (AU$36,000 to $54,000).
This particular replica is based on the vehicle driven by Michael Keaton in the 1989 Batman and 1992 Batman Returns films, both of which were directed by Tim Burton.
According to the listing, the fibreglass-bodied car is underpinned by a heavily modified space frame chassis from a 1965 Ford Mustang.
Measuring 6700mm from nose to tail, the low-slung two-seater is roughly 30 per cent longer than a Holden Commodore.
Unfortunately however, the rear-mounted jet turbines – which were central to the car's extensive performance capabilities in the original film franchise – aren’t operational on this variant.
Instead, drive comes from a 5.7-litre Chevrolet small-block V8 producing approximately 283kW – sent to the ground via a five-speed manual transmission.
A fighter jet-like canopy slides forward to reveal a spartan cabin, lined with less-than-savoury carpet trim. A plethora of dials, switches, and gauges – many of which appear ornamental – face two leather bucket seats, while the driver grips a suede Momo race wheel.
The car – which is road registrable – will be sold on 20 March 2021, with no set reserve price.
